The Death We’ve Earned

When we look at both definitions of wage, payment for a job, or as in waging war, the application of what we put into our sinful lives is a dark, yet crystal clear view of the fallen nature of our human condition, and a confirmation that we need a savior more than we ever have.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Collective Turning Away from God

As the world continues to justify its existence through perverse ideologies, quick fixes, and unbound self-aggrandized views, we continue to slip away into death.

An insatiable need to sexualize and gratify every carnal desire kills the purity the Bible commands us to seek through Christ. And through the death of purity, sex for sport and conquest has become the norm, abortion rates skyrocket and not only justified, but vehemently fought for under the air cover of free choice, all while the family unit erodes under the weight of pornography, deep lust, infidelity, and generalized sexual perversion.

Our desire for fame, money, and power distorts our sense of self and has placed our relevance, happiness, and worthiness in the things of this world while rejecting the free gifts that God offers us. The barren wasteland that is our political landscape has divided the world into left and right. Our bitterness, coupled with the desire to glorify ourselves and destroy others who oppose us, has left a void only God can fill.

As we protest, yell, condemn, scoff, kill, and maim our fellow humans, we experience the death of humanity. As we justify abortion, affirm the LGBTQ community, and condone licentious behavior in our communities and homes, we obliterate any sense of a moral compass as the world takes hold of our hearts and minds, and the Lord turns us over to our selfish desires. The death of self, in the most opposite way of what God intended.

The Brokenness of Man

The very essence of how we exist in the world is antithetical to God. Every desire we have is opposed to how God created us to live, worship, and understand the generous bounty that He provided for us. This blindness has led to the death of our collective vision for objective truth and goodness.

Romans 3: 10-12 “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”

This not just on the liberal or conservative side, all parties have drifted far away from the truth of God’s word, and continue to satiate there desires to create objective truth either by using The Bible as air cover to discriminate and push political agendas, or to promote harmful ideologies that defy logic and militantly yell for blind acceptance of every whim of the human psyche.

It is a dark, and cold world we live in, with atrocities big and small every day of every second, forever, until Jesus returns to the earth. The paralyzing reality of that makes all issues seem insignificant in comparison, but we are not here to sin and burn; we are here to be saved and glorify the one who created us, God Almighty.

There is a Better Way

There is hope to be reborn from the death we are owed and walk into the light of eternal life. This does not have to be the end, but a glorious beginning. Jesus came to earth, walked amongst us, lived a perfect life, was crucified for our sins, and rose again to be reunited with His Father in heaven. Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. Whoever believes in me will not perish, but have everlasting life. We must wrap our heads around this truth to understand that Jesus is not here to condemn us, but to save us.

John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

However, there is a cost of continuing to reject God, and it will not only be the death of things in this world, but the ultimate death when we are eternally separated from God in the afterlife.

This is not science fiction or whimsical fodder, but a divine revelation of scripture backed by thousands of accounts and countless historical confirmations. Jesus is real, His divinity is undeniable, and his mercy, love, and peace are indescribable, but available to all who trust in Him, and believe.

The black horse of sin rides into our lives every day of every second, but God provides a fortress for eternal glory, victory over sin, and an unmatched assurance of being part of the most loving family on this of eternity, and beyond.
