A Prayer for the Church

Dear Lord,

We thank You for Your church, the body of Christ, gathered not by preference or personality, but by Your grace. Thank You for giving us a people to worship with, grow with, and walk beside as we make our way through this fallen world. But Lord, we also know that the church is in deep need of Your help.

Strengthen Your church in truth. Guard her from compromise, from false teaching, from worldliness, and from the desire to be accepted by the culture at the expense of holiness. Raise up pastors and leaders who fear You more than they fear man, who handle Your Word faithfully, and who are willing to shepherd with both conviction and tenderness.

Teach the church to love what is good, to hate what is evil, and to remain anchored in the Gospel even when the world pushes back. Heal division where pride has taken root. Expose sin where it has been hidden. Restore reverence where casualness has replaced holy fear. Help Your people to stop building around comfort, trends, and personal preference, and teach us again what it means to be a people who belong fully to You.

Let the church be marked by truth, prayer, repentance, holiness, courage, compassion, and deep love for Christ. Make us a people who do not only speak of You, but who reflect You with our lives. And where the church has grown weak, distracted, or confused, please bring renewal.

In Jesus name, Amen.
